Community Supported Employment
The HCDAC helps to promote independence and community integration by providing training where needed in learning new employment skills. Community employment is offered to our clients.
The Hubbard County Recycling Center contracts services through the DAC. Other community supported employment sites include: Lamb/Weston RDO, Heritage Living Center, Park Rapids School District, Beagle Books, The Heat Source, Henrietta Township, Housing and Redevelopment Association of Park Rapids, Walgreen’s Drugstore, North Star Orthodontics, The DNR Forestry Building, First English Church of Dorset, The Trading Post, The Good Life Café, and St. Joseph's Area Hospital. DAC clients also contribute to the community by volunteering at the Park Rapids Public Library. We provide for our clients’ one-on-one training through on-site job coaching, technical support, transportation, and counseling.
Center Based Employment
Center based employment is an attractive alternative to community employment. We contract work through area businesses that our clients can do during the day at the DAC.

Contract work includes:
- Assembly work
- Button making/ design
- Collating
- Crafts
- Paper shredding
- Recycling Center
- Rug weaving
The DAC owns and operates the Bearly Used Thrift Store and The Salvage Depot, both located in Park Rapids. Several of our clients help with the sorting and stocking of merchandise.
The DAC has held the recycling contracts for the community since 1987. We have a number of clients working there throughout the year.
